The benefits of Sport Massage:

  • Improve circulation & lymphatic flow

  • Sedate or stimulate nerve endings
  • Increase or decrease muscle tone
  • Increase or decrease muscle length
  • Remodel scar tissue when required
  • Assist in mental preparation for sporting participation

Pre-Event massage

Pre-event massage is used to warm and loosen up the muscular system, and sharpen neuromuscular communication. It is also a vital part of routine psychological preparation.

Post-Event massage

A challenging training can cause subsequent muscle soreness. After the event, Sport Massage is a popular adjunct to the warming down exercise routine because it shortens recovery time from muscular strain. It has the effect of loosening and releasing muscles by increasing localized vascular and lymphatic activity and removes by-products, lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic wastes.

What to expect from your treatment?

Your therapist will take a medical history to ascertain relevant health history past and present, about your particular sport and any injuries you may have incurred. Each treatment will be unique to you, your sport, your state of fitness or injury and your athletic goals. Treatments use a combination of massage and stretching exercises to strengthen and release soft tissue (muscles, fascia and tendons) and to increase range of movement in joints. Massage techniques used may include trigger point therapy, neuromuscular therapy, soft tissue release, acupressure and more. Sports massage is an excellent way to prepare for workout before and beneficial after a sports event.
