Training with CrossFit Vancouver

Training isn't easy. If performed inappropriately, the Dead Lift and Olympic Weight lifting can be seriously detrimental to the knees, shoulders and lower back. My coach Sheppy ensures my safety by paying great attention to the details of every move I make! I highly recommend personal training to anyone who has the courage to maximize their power and strength. Weight lifting is challenging in many different ways. I have been training one-on-one with Kelly, Andy and now Sheppy at CrossFit Vancouver since May 09. Sometimes the body needs time to adjust when embarking on a new exercise routine. In August, I had to take time off because of a minor injury in my Achilles tendon. A few weeks ago my knee was problematic and with the help of Greg Kirk - Physiotherapist, I was rehabilitated in no time.

With proper diagnosis and therapeutic exercises, my injury healed rapidly! I have been an athlete all my life but never have I felt stronger and healthier than today. CrossFit coaches are exceptional and they can train you to achieve outstanding results, if you are ready.

And a few words about personal training...

When people exercise with personal trainers, they sometimes forget to "stay in charge" of their own bodies. Trainers want you to be inspired and to push your limits. They want you to be courageous and go beyond what you’ve been able to do in the past. But pushing too hard can sometimes lead to injuries. We must be vigilant and acutely aware of the difference between a “sweet pain” and a “bad pain.”

It is important to differentiate between muscle fatigue and alarming signs of possible overexertion that could lead to injuries. Stop what you are doing, step back for a second and make sure you are safe to continue.
